Children are best equipped to learn foreign languages at ages much younger than they are normally taught in the US, this program is a great exception to that rule.

In addition to learning a second language, bilingual education has been shown to help students improve their English reading and writing skills.

I'm so impressed with the language skills my nieces have learned in the program. I know from the experience of my daughter and others that learning foreign languages at a young age has tremendous educational benefits far beyond the mastery of the language.

We have two daughters in VAIS and love the school. We want our children to keep learning Chinese and hope to enroll our son there next year.

VAIS is amazing! My son loves it and loves the interaction with older students as well. I think it's great that he is learning Chinese at such a young age. I love that he is setting himself up for his future, speaking Chinese will go a long way for him as he grows up.

Wow. Look at the comment above from private school Milton. I don't agree with the existence of charter schools. They draw very involved parents from the community schools who need them most. It is a way to segregate the children of families who have the time and ability to choose a school from the hard trodden families who cannot or do not make a choice. We do not need so many charter schools in this already successful school district. And why are people from Anaheim or anyone outside of VASD signing this petition? They have no stake in it at all.
