My husband and I adopted our daughter from China 15 years ago. There was no Mandarin-immersion opportunity as it is a small school district. I applaud the efforts to renew the VAIS Charter. Creating opportunities to help students achieve and excel in this global world should be at the top of the list for all decision makers.

My husband frequently travels to China for his work. He is there 2 to 3 times per year, for weeks at a time. Early exposure to the Mandarin Chinese language would have have been extremely helpful. And, While our factory jobs here in the US have disappeared, product management jobs are abundant, and many products are made in factories in China. My husband is a Senior Product Manager in the bike industry. He gets by with what little Chinese he has picked up over the years but early learning would have been helpful for him. I sincerely wish a similar program was available here in Oregon,WI. I would have signed our daughter up.

As someone who attended the very successful German Immersion School in Milwaukee coming up on its 40th Anniversary, I know the importance of teaching children a second language. It's evident by seeing the success stories all these years later and truly was the best part of my childhood. Keep this school up and running!

I know my niece has greatly benefitted from VAIS's incredibly competent educational team. Please continue to support this vital option for our children.

I am a parent in Monona Grove, a district with very similar enrollment and economic and social diversity as VASD. MGSD is looking to start a multi-age charter school next year. I fully support VAIS in the name of providing parents choice in the methodology, pedagogy, and curricular focus of the education of their children.

Keep the school open

VAIS is one of a kind. Our Daughter went there for 1 school year and if it weren't for a move she would still be there. The teachers are top notch and as a classroom volunteer I witnessed the children learning so much and enjoying unique culture as well as developing a deeper understanding for life. Love VAIS!
