VA Recoupment of Disable Veterans SSB/VSI Payments

Separated December 1994. VA just started recouping from my VA benefits. This is insane. STOP the Recouping.

I agree they sould stop the recoupment.

I had to pay back 42,000.00 for my 17 years of service.

They just began my recoupment. Taking my entire benefit check. I am very upset about this

I took the SSB because the Navy was refusing people re-up to force them not to get their retirement! I took it because my job (Rate) was being phased out (What they told us anyway). This is wrong! Stop the recoupment!

I had this happen to me as well. I was quite surprised when they took this money out of my disability monthly payments.

I am with you on not paying anything back. I too hate having to pay my SSB back. There is no amount of money can amount to what military personnel and families sacrifice each deployment.

I served in the military, I feel this is wrong. I had the same thing happen to me. Let me give you an example, a soldier receives let's say $6000.00 VSI or SSB if look at the compensation table of 1992 how long would take to recoup this payment before receiving any benefits?. let's see a long time.

Given an involuntary separation pay. I am also receiving 60% from the VA. Navy personnel should look at MILPERSMAN 1160-120 8b.

You're not going to get 5000 signatures. Not many people know this petition is active. Unless we take to the streets and get people to sign. I am on the same boat, albeit unbeknownst to the VA. I was involuntary separated as an E-5

That is the problem right there. If they had told me I could be have my Involuntary separation pay recouped, I would've told them to keep it.

I sent you a text message. But in case you didn't get it here are some possible options. 1. Contact the VA directly and have them review your case. Recoupment can be paid in partial installments 2. File for 100% if you haven't done so. As of April 2018, a law was passed that allowed veterans to file for pain which was rated 0%. Getting the maximum compensation will a. Pay for recoupment faster, b. Deduct a percentage for recoupment and sstill eave you with something. Hope this helps.

Completely unfair bureaucratic law that is putting Veteran Families in Financial Hardship. While Congessional personnel serve as little as 4 years and get a pension for life. We put our lives on the line for this country.

This needs to be brought to President Trump
