This outcome validates the concerns we raised together about the economic burden placed on our households. While this success provides us with immediate relief, we will continue to watch for any future proposals that lack …

Please sign this petition to help bring awareness to the continuous rate increases Utilities Inc has done to Seminole county residents.

Petition Statement of Purpose

Docket No. 20200139-WS

The undersigned hereby notify the Florida Public Service Commission (“FPSC”) that:

1. It is understood Utility, Inc., intends to raise the cost of one gallon of water by approximately 3 cents (approximately 166%)

2. This anticipated increase will present an undue hardship and impose a substantial economic burden to the residents of Utility Inc.’s service area in Seminole County.

3. The FPSC should reject any permanent or temporary increase in the cost of water for at least one year from February 4, 2021.

4. By February 4, 2022, the FPSC should conduct – or cause to be conducted – a study to determine whether any increase in the cost of water in the petition area is reasonable based on the study and, if so, to further determine what may be a reasonable increase in the cost of water; and

5. The FPSC should not permit or otherwise institute an increase in the cost of water – at the request of Utility, Inc., or any other party (including the FPSC itself) until such study is conducted and the results of such study are presented and explained to the residents to be impacted by any contemplated cost in increasing the cost of water.

Water is a basic necessity and should be affordable. Continued and frequent rate hikes are detrimental to the quality of life. We do not fill pool; there are only two of us—both retired. Our water bill has more than doubled since this conglomerate took over.

I am a widow living alone, frugal with water usage, no way I should ever have to pay $188.00 a month for water. When the service was Sandlando Utilities i never had a water bill more than $80.00, including the summer months. This increase is greed at it's best. NO INCREASE!

Outrageous and unacceptable increases over the last 3 years. 1 adult, 20 years same residence. $25 to $30 / month average to currently $80-$90 per month. PSC has failed their mission to protect us Florida residents .

This increase is uncalled for. Due to the upgrades in other districts our district should not be required to foot the bill. Our district has not had any improvements that require raising our fees by 166%. This is abusive power of this monopoly.

The rate increases are out of control, too many people on fixed incomes and young families trying to make ends meet. With the hardships that so many families have endured this year coping with COVID and job losses, to want to raise the water rates YET AGAIN is outrageous.

I can not keep up! This is a complete rip off! My last bill was $330. Who on the FPSC is connected with Utilities Inc?
