Seeing this much support for John Finn is incredible because true heroes deserve the honor instead of those who insulted our Marines. This momentum proves that we refuse to let the legacy of a Medal of Honor recipient be overlooked.

The stories shared by service members in the comments remind me exactly why we started this fight for Chief Finn. It is a disgrace that we continue to ignore true heroism while honoring those who attacked our troops and I am currently documenting every instance of this hypocrisy to send directly to the Navy oversight committee.

I am retired military and a MoH member should be recognized more than a no good politician who is anti military
Please, Please do whatever is necessary to rename the USS Murtha, The USS John Finn. John Murtha is a disgrace who dishonored himself and his career in the US Marine Corp. To have a ship named for him is spit in the face of all US Marines. Anthony Campbell ENC(SW) USN Ret.
Re-name the ship to USS John Finn. Renaming of ships has precedent. This case warrants that adjustment.

Murtha was a total disgrace to the uniform. John Finn is a true hero who actually earned his honor. Give it to the man who saved lives not just brought home pork barrel spending.
DON'T NAME ANY SHIPS FOR CURRENT POLITICIANS. MOST OF THEM ARE CROOKS ANYWAY.

NONE of the current congress with the exception of a small handfull deserve to have even a barge named after them, they have disgraced all of us, when they can't get anything done in 8 years time.
