I don't hunt deer with a dog, but its a longstanding tradition and has typically been allowed. I fully support the use of dogs on public land where owners follow the rules such as kiwi-aversion training and keeping them out of public huts.

Less lost animals that may be shot and unable to be located. But can be located by a dog. Equals better useage of resources.

Even if kiwi-aversion training is put in place (may already be) the recovery rate is much higher and most good dogs are focused on large game species.

A good indicating dog is worth it's wait in gold. If the dog's Kiwi proof I can't see the problem.

Keep indicating dogs as long as they have done a kiwi aversion course there should be no issues

Deer dogs are under control - they are not running wildly killing wildlife - it would be tragic to many people to ban them in Public reserves!

DoC ... stop hindering those trying to harvest introduced animals to justify your poisoning regime. Or YOU may end up out of a job !
