Use City Surplus Properties for Self Managed Houseless Villages

Please invite houseless communities to populate larger unused city and Metro properties!

Wonderful posting, with echos of the call from North Portland NA Chairs of over 6 months ago. We've all been asking for either sanctioned camps with services and support, or tiny house villages. Using these public lands could make a Huge difference. Thanks for all the thought and energy put into this posting,

The cure for houselessness: Houses !!

This is the right thing to do!! It is respects individual’s autonomy, is safer-more practical crowded shelters and there is available space! Let’s do this!!!

Houseless villages are affordable and sustainable, and a wonderful model of mutual aid and support.

Using available land, and putting very affordable tiny houses on it is by far more cost effective than constant sweeps. Spending millions to place boulders to prevent camps makes no sense when there are such pragmatic options.

Being houseless is not a crime. The most vulnerable citizens need help now.

Fabulous solution. Please do this so our houseless can stay sane and sheltered.

Getting people housed is the most important and effective way to protect each other. Social distancing doesn’t work if some people are still left outside.

This tiny house program has worked before. Why not put them on a city golf course. That wouldn't this act show a positive commitment to our homeless brothers and sisters.

I am deaf and low income! Need available for studio room or bedroom please let me know

There must be a community garden and If possible we should have guards and therapists available.
