I'm sure the current PA announcer is a nice guy, but he can't hold a candle to Dennis Packer's deep, booming voice. The high-tone squeaky voice of the current announcer is like listening to finger nails on a chalk board. Why can't USC bring back Dennis for a few years. He was simply the BEST PA ANNOUNCER that USC has EVER had! You don't see the Dodgers getting rid of Vin Scully, and taking Dennis Packer out of the PA Announcing Booth made about the same sense. I've always been a big supporter of Pat Haden and J.K. McKay, but on this decision, I join many Trojan fans in urging them to bring back Dennis, who was simply much better than what we're stuck with now!
BRING BACK DENNIS!! The new guy is awful and has no charisma at all. ruins the whole saturday vibe.
Dennis is the voice of the coliseum. without him it just doesnt feel like a real home game. what are they thinking.
grew up listening to him every single fall. he is part of the tradition. so sad to see them mess with something that wasnt broken.
totally agree with everyone here. dennis made every game feel like an event. whoever made this decision at USC clearly doesnt go to the games.

Thank you for your support. USC Marketing was my demise because they want to control the entire game day experience. They even shut down my announcing of the TMB. I announced the Trojan Marching Band au gratis for 22 years, writing the scripts, attending band practice, and away games. I loved every minute of my Trojan experience and still attend games on occasion as the guest of USC faithful. The funny thing, they chose my backup announcer as my replacement.
