URGENT! Stop Choto Landing Development in West Knoxville

Northshore Drive is already overly congested and under maintained. This is worsened by increased traffic around The Cove and ball fields. This area is also under patrolled by KCSD and increased police presence is going to be necessary with this development. I thought that our planners maintain continuity of communities. This project is a terrible idea to which I am opposed.

I am very concerned, especially for traffic reasons. Northshore Drive has high traffic volume and is very narrow. It is already congested.(Especially when school is in session.) I do not think this was a very well thought -out plan. I am somewhat surprised Mayor Jacobs went along with this. I agree with the others, this is a wonderful, safe and pleasant community to live in. It should be more important that they think about the people that already live her than the tax dollars they will receive for this project.

My wife Elizabeth and I live in the Jefferson Park Subdivision and we both do not want the Choto Landing Development. The infrastructure is not in place to safely handle the volume of traffic this development will generate. Mike & Betsy Day

We do not need this development in our area. Traffic is already bad and the schools can't handle any more students. Please stop this development from happening.

Stop Choto Landing!

The community of Concord and Farragut surrounding Choto is not suitable for multiple or HUD housing. This desired area has brought revenue for the city and community solely based on our per capita income and high property values. We are the ones contributing to the revenue of this area and thriving. We have a right to preserve this area for structures that have architectural and agricultural heritage. We do not have a problem with vacancy or needing government financial grants and is not in need of this “revenue” the developer proposes it would bring. In fact, If you build this type of housing, those residents will request for government tax money assistance due to displacement of lower-income living and/or low functional design. We have a greenway but not public sidewalks, rural county roads not made for high volume traffic, choto landing is also not located near public transit with reduction of job accessibility due to being rural. Ways to prevent displacement of low-income or multi home residential area is to place multi unit structures in neighborhoods that already have the resources needed to provide a high-quality of life for all residents in the area. I propose to review and vote on the budget and plans to address assistance in the future in the Choto area before this project is approved. Budget review and vote on road improvement budgets, park/green area for those residents, easement to northshore drive, an HOA plan, entry architectural and landscape plans with upkeep that coincide to area, income and background verification requirements for residents, ymca improvement plan with budget, more zoning for jobs, school bus and grant request with budget for expansion, increased school assistance programs, teacher and grant increases, county road expansion and upkeep budget, funding for assistance from city for any reason it needs to be modified in the future because you want to expand that funding to an area that doesn’t have a need for it. We do not have the infrastructure to support this development. Traffic is already a major issue, and the schools are already crowded.

Stop Choto Landing Development

“I’ve heard a lot of talk about the Republican supermajority in the state of Tennessee, and the fact that the blue wave, which the media keeps talking about, was going to crash into the big red wall in Tennessee,” the six-foot-seven Jacob boomed. “It will…this year, and it probably will in the next election cycle, and probably in the following. But if you look at the demographics, they’re not really on our side. What happens if that big red wall is ever breached? If it is, our state and our country will fundamentally change, and we can never, ever let that happen.” - Glenn Jacobs. There are communal fundamental differences, reflective of red and blue. How could this development not lead to fundamental change? I am opposed in many ways. It is illogical.

Many reasons this shouldn’t happen. The roads and infrastructure can’t handle much more. The schools are over crowded. It will hurt our home value. YOU ARE SPENDING TAX PAYOR MONEY TO MAKE ALL THIS HAPPEN.

This is completely unacceptable. I will never vote for anyone whose name is attached to this being allowed to happen.

Our community is a wonderful place that we've all invested in, not just financially but emotionally too. I believe that maintaining the unique character and quality of life we enjoy here should be a top priority. While I understand the importance of affordable housing, I have concerns about how this might impact the safety, property values, and overall atmosphere of our neighborhood. I believe it's crucial to have a say in decisions that will affect our homes and families. I am signing this petition to voice my opposition to the introduction of Section 8 housing in our community. I believe that there are better ways to address the issue of affordable housing without compromising the essence of what makes our neighborhood special. I'm open to discussions and finding solutions that work for everyone, but I strongly believe that there are more suitable alternatives that won't disrupt the harmony we've built here.

Planned development does not conform with surrounding single family homes for single family ownership. Multi-family developments should consider locations where appropriate zoning is already in place in designated areas specifically for rental properties.

Have those in power drive down Northshore @ almost any hour to witness the amount of traffic now! Then drive it @5:00-6:00 P.M. and contemplate the added vehicles this would bring to the table. We won’t even go down the crime road!
