None of you have thought about the sixth form students however. First of all, they have already paid over £400 to get a Stagecoach bus pass for the bus to school and won’t get this money back. Secondly, the council aren’t required to give seats to them anymore meaning that without that Stagecoach service they physically would not be able to get to school. Please think about people other than the Year 7-9s as this will effect them in the future.

The current bus situation is unacceptable. There are serious safeguarding concerns for these children as young as 11 first being on a public bus, then being left to fend for themselves, a whole hour before school starts.

Drivers of public buses do not have the required CRB Badge needed by coach drivers. They do not have to complete the training courses in spotting vulnerable children and working with vulnerable adults which makes a mockery of the county councils implementation of said courses when money is involved.

The whole "bus travel" to school thing this year has been a farce from the beginning as far as I can tell.
Bus passes sent to wrong addresses / not being sent out was a start... This sounds like penny pinching on a grand scale.
Was it not last year that the Public busses used to get kids to school in didn't stop because they where too full?
This needs to be sorted out!
Busses to school should be private and should pick up and get to school at an appropriate time.

Safeguarding is always paramount but in this case children could be placed in unsafe and vulnerable situations. A revised timetable needs to happen as soon as possible

I think the safety of children is being totally compromised by cut backs. No one has the authority to control the situation/children on both pick ups because it's a public bus, making them crammed and unsafe, members of staff have to be on school site earlier to attend to the children - a cost to the school I presume. Personally I would like to see a risk assessment carried out by the council because I feel the safety of the children in long hanborough is being violated and it's only a matter of time something awful happens and where will the fault lie, some pen pushers in a council office trying to save money! !

I wholeheartedly agree...bus is far too early and it surely cannot be right that these very young children travel on public transport with no supervision or left at school outside official school hours to fend for themselves. It's a terrible start to their secondary education. Shame on you Oxfordshire County Council.
