For the safety of our pedestrians and ESPECIALLY our children, the 4 way stops need to remain as 4 way stops!

The safety of the neighborhood, the children, the school areas, and even the bikers should come first. I don't know if this was discussed within the neighborhood, but the concerns now raised seem to indicate that we all should take another look at the entire process that got us to this point, and consider the changes the neighbors desire - especially those on Central Ave.

Having lived at 55th and Central for 45 years, the intersection of 56th and Central has had numerous serious accidents over the years. People coming up the hill to 56th from 57th CANNOT see if any cars are crossing 56th. Subsequently crossing cars are hit broadside in that intersection. Cars crossing 56th street from the West cannot see if cars are coming up the hill until they are in the middle of that intersection. Because of the geography it will never stop being dangerous. Not to mention that with 2 schools 1 block away, there are always multiple kids walking, biking, and skateboarding to school in the area. FOR SAFETY'S SAKE, DO NOT REMOVE THE STOP SIGN AT THIS INTERSECTION!

Please consider the danger you are puting our children in by your short sighted plan.

I am truly concerned about the safety of our children especially around school start/end time. We know Central is going to be a race track without stops. Also residents of MK are all used to 4 way stops so it’s safe to assume accidents are going to happen.

Please keep traffic on Central Ave slow - don't take out the 4 way stops.

We need those stops on Central. My main concern with the Red Line is that our side streets will see dangerously fast traffic. How will this help?!

Please do not remove 4 way stops from Central Ave. This is a residential street, not a thoroughfare.

Thank you Karen. It makes me bummed because there has been a big neighborhood presence working behind the scenes to educate people that this would “really happen” unless neighbors got involved. Most neighbors did not listen... and now all of a sudden people are shocked and surprised! FYI. Colleen Fanning is a big advocate of the Red Line and all this progress. Central is going to be the new College which is sad.... so many schools. There are several City Councilors that do not support this. Contact me if you want to know more. So sad what is happening to our neighborhood

I agree that to remove stop signs is not a good idea. The speed bumps are a nusence.

Central Ave cannot withstand the traffic from College. The 4 way stops must remain. Too many children walk down Central Ave to school. PLEASE LISTEN!!!

Temporarily changing these intersections from all way to two way stops poses significant risk to our neighbors. There is not a day that goes by that I do not see someone blow through the stop sign at 40th and Central. Too many times this has almost resulted in the collision between cars or cars with our neighbors. Prior to this intersection being an all way stop, there were countless reports of accidents occurring. This neighborhood work together with the city to demonstrate the need for this intersection to be an all way stop. My concern for this change still exists despite the addition of a speed table north of the 40th and Central, as many traveling north from 38th street are still speeding past the stop or coming to a screeching halt to avoid a collision. Please consider keeping this intersection an all way stop or an alternative that would decrease the speed of traffic through this popular intersection.

Keep the 4 way stops!! It is so much safer and also easier for traffic flow with the 4 ways. A 2 way stop could potentially have traffic backed up!

Please keep the stop signs! We had so many horrible accidents on our corner (43rd and Penn) before the stop sign was installed.

Please do not remove the stop signs!! Speeds on Central are already too high as-is.
