I feel for the migrants of course, however Randall's island is a treasure for the city, for kids, a beautiful outdoor space that needs to be saved. I have always praised NYC for keeping a place like that, so I would hate to see it ruined.

I strongly object to the use of Randall’s Island Park’s athletic fields for construction of a HERC facility.
My two kids play soccer every weekend there. I acknowledge the issue but don’t believe the solutions should come with the expense of limiting spaces for our City’s youth.

I’m a mother and a refugee who came to NY 29 years ago. Kids need sports more than ever as we come out of COVID. With already limited park space taking physical and mental health away from them is cruel and short sighted. We need migrants but this is not the way to solve the problem. Instead of helping them assimilate you are creating a ghetto.

Taking away valuable field space from kids will have a profound negative impact on their physical, social, and emotional well-being. Our kids are still recovering from the mismanagement in NYC from from Covid. Please do not hurt our kids more.

These fields are sorely needed for NYC and surrounding Boroughs children to have a place to play. Do you want them in the streets??

New York is increasingly a more difficult place to raise a family. RI is used by children from all backgrounds and income levels. Protect the families of New York City, or they will continue to leave.

Kids first. Community first. Migrants are not our community.

We can help asylum seekers without wreaking havoc on our children's and adult sports programs which are already extremely limited in number and locations. Don't take away soccer / sports fields from Randall's Island unless you are adding twice as many on Governor's Island!!!!

It's so important for children to have a place where they are safe to play and learn new skills.

As a soccer mom and a current player who is in a constant struggle to find field space, I strongly oppose this. Losing this space will have a domino effect on the entire fragile field space ecosystem. Recreational activity is vital to urban areas. It's already a battle to get permits to play. Please don't take this space.
