In order to comment, apparently I need to sign it.
I love the comments about killing youth sports and displacing kids. You do realize that the vast majority of travel soccer and baseball teams that use TAX PAYER funded parks charge families close to 3k to play sports and hardly pay the city to use the space but nobody seems to have a problem with that and the impact it has on kids and the lack of access these teams offer black and brown kids. I read the most recent ny post article and it’s all about the kids and how they will not be able to play. Stop using kids and youth sports as a pawn. That’s exactly what’s happening and it’s beyond shameful.

No to the illegal aliens taking tax payer funded space. Can we go to their country and demand like they are?

I am extremely sympathetic to the plight of immigrants and the difficult situation the city faces in finding adequate space for them. However I have to believe that another suitable location can be found that does not impact young people and families so much.

NYC leadership must acknowledge its part in creating this crisis. Unless that happens, we will never see true change. All solutions will come at the expense of our children's children's children. Pray for this city and all who love it.

Let the children in New York City keep Randal’s Island for their sports. Residents of NYC pay taxes and should not have to give away their rights to Randal’s Island

Instead of putting shelters on athletic fields used by kids and in densely used parks in poor neighborhoods, put migrant shelters in neighborhoods with rich people who voted for open borders and sanctuary city status. Let them suffer. They can always go to Woodstock or the Hamptons. Secure the border. We already let in more immigrants legally than any other country in the world.

this is a ridiculous plan. Our kids are already so limited in space for sports. And Randall Island has HORRIBLE access.

1st covid took away my children’s athletics, and now they will lose their athletic fields. Their own schools do not have athletic fields. Randalls is their athletic fields. It’s not like they can just play somewhere else. These fields are precious to my children. Another reason to move to the suburbs. Why not build housing somewhere like governors Island?

There is no reason to host immigrants in a place that has no plumbing, no food, no services, no modes of transportation! They would be stranded there. Inhumane
