Preserve Randall's Island Fields 82-85 for NYC Children

This is critical space for the sanity of our kids!

We are already short on athletic fields in New York, we can not afford to give up more space.

I do not support taxpayers having to fund illegal migrants when NYC citizens are already struggling financially.

Why does this solution have to impact the soccer fields? The tents put up (and never used ) by Ichan stadium provided an option that did NOT impact the soccer fields. There is so much open space on Randalls that is not used (the giant field west of Ichan stadium for example) why not place housing there?

Please do not take away valuable field space from our kids.

My family ( children 10 and 14) have been using these fields for recreational use for the past 10 years. With limited recreational space for children, families and New Yorkers City residents, this area is critical for all of these groups. New York City residents are already leaving the city for various reasons. Please don’t give us another reason to do so. Please keep that area for use for recreational use. Thank you! Good afternoon, Mayor Adam- I am writing this letter to bring to your attention something that I believe is unfair! I would like to ask that you DO NOT take Randalls Island Park from the kids of NYC! I understand the need for the space but I employ you to find it elsewhere. I am sympathetic to the immigrants as I come from immigrant parents but I feel that the citizens of NYC should not lose a valuable part of our city. I have really good memories of Randalls Island Park! I grew up going to Randalls Island Park with my mother, siblings and friends. I take my kids to that park 3 times a weeks as my older son plays soccer there. Thank you for your attention to this matter! Thank you, Carmen Hernandez from Bronx NY

I understand the city is try to help the migrants have a space to be at, but it surely unfair to have to take from activities/ children residents of NYC come to these fields for various activities. fields where kids are potentially living up to a dream of becoming professional in the athletic world.

I understand and I’m very touched by these migrant families needing a place to stay at, but don’t agree on solving one issue and implementing a new one where now our children are being affected completely. That would mean crushing dreams these kids have of the sport not one field but many will be taking from the opportunity of our children’s fun and potentially professional future.

This is awful. Leave the kids alone, do not take away anything from them! Especially when this situation was created and could have been prevented by current government officials!

Horrible idea !! The amount of taxes we pay that we get nothing back for, we pay for our kids to play on these fields and now you want to take them away from them. Find somewhere else, there is ample land in New York state they should not be on Randalls island on our playing fields.

The city needs to identify solutions that do not negatively impact the health and well-being of the city’s children. Organized athletics are critical to emotional well-being and physical fitness. We are in the midst of an epidemic of childhood obesity- taking away athletic fields has a significant negative impact on the children.

Our children lost seasons and years of high school and community sports to COVID rules and restrictions. Please don't take away more.

The lack of fields for children to utilize for youth sports is distressing. This is an attempt to solve one problem by exaggerating another.

NYC Children need public field spaces to develop and learn new skills. There needs to be a more creative solution for the migrants then placing them in areas designated for public enjoyment for all.

This is horrible for my family and the mental stability of my children to go to sports for the physical activity and social.

It’s beyond unacceptable for NYC to take field space that is used for youth sports away for housing asylum seekers. Nyc has to find an alternative outside of Manhattan that has very little space to begin with. Asylum seekers need help but don’t need to stay in manhattan.

This is space needed for children and families.
