I agree. I think the administration hasn't taken any action in a situation like the one on February 17, 2026, other than issuing the same memo or message we always see in these situations. The RAVE system could be useful, yes; but we need more information, status updates, and information on how the student union operates. Anyone can join, but I think they should have better security. Communication with students and parents needs to be constant.

As a parent I have been very disappointed as week.. and there should also be a number set up that gives out alerts to everyone who is not in Guardian. Why do we need our students to add us to that when we could be getting alerts on our phones?

Just lived through this at CDC in Atlanta where there WAS a real active shooter. This is a reasonable and necessary request that I 100% agree with.

As a parent I was disappointed in the lack of information. The discrepancies in reports. Some classes canceled. Some not.

Campus safety needs to stop focusing on ticketing people who are just parking to get to class on time. Focus on the actual crimes that are committed on campus. I have been to campus safety twice now about theft from the gym lockers(that were locked with a unique code) and haven’t heard a peep.

While the RAVE alerts and police activity seemed responsive in the moment, as a parent, reading through the shortcomings outlined by students who experienced this 1st-hand, as well as the points made by parents who were not receiving information in a timely manner, I would agree that the list of requests for answers, clarification and transparency and not only reasonable but much-needed. In addition, the university post-event communication should have given a much more detailed explanation of why the threat was deemed to be resolved. The incredible leap of faith it took to allow our children to traipse around campus, not knowing if there was a perpetrator who just hadn’t been found on campus, or had been found and detained, or at least questioned and deemed not to be a threat… that leap of faith should not have been expected of us.

Not that I understand administration at all university, but as a business owner with employees of varying levels of understanding, I get that sometimes complete transparency is not always the best option. As a parent of an ERAU student, though, I would appreciate being able to understand what happened in the last 27 hours. Please help us understand what actually went on with the phone call/threat on 2/17, and the extensive and thorough response thereafter. Also, what actually happened 2/18?! I feel I am capable of processing objective data and have awareness that nefarious forces are in the world anywhere! I’d just like to know the details instead of speculating based on gossip and police reports. Thank you for taking the threat seriously as you did - I gave sincere gratitude for the staff, security personnel, and DBPD officers for acting quickly and keeping everyone safe.

Please get law enforcement emergency access whenever they want dog

All active students and faculty should have been automatically in the RAVE emergency application. You should have to opt out if you don’t want alerts not opt in. Students are given a massive amount of information when they start their academic journey- it might not be top of mind to be looking for this emergency information application.

International students and parents especially need to be trained on what to do in emergency situations. Many have come from countries that do not have these types of emergencies. As well the parents need information on the best way to monitor and communicate with their students in a situation and being in another country.

While I was impressed with the effort and efficiency, the false alarm the next day and the scarcity of details shared worries me.on real preparedness.

As a parent of a current student, I found the readiness, communication, and organization very disappointing. I hope ERAU is doing a debrief and improving their protocols as soon as possible

This is scary. I was in the middle of getting my wisdom tooth extraction done and I get messages of a threat on campus. The official rave notification only came hours after. All of my friends could have been in real danger.
