Access to the Upper Yak. is important for the entire outdoor community not just fisherman. Therefore improving these access points is beneficial to everyone, in the entire sporting community.

Dear County Administrators: Access to the Yakima River is an important part of river regulation. It would be best served with access improvement for both boat and foot in the Upper Yakima between Thorp and Ellensburg. Please review and grant this request. Thank you.

Yes! The South Cle Elum launch is embarrassing and almost impossible to use and the launch just East of Cle Elum is difficult to navigate.

Would be GREAT if we could get better access to this section of the fabulous Yakima. Even better if there were some spots to slide a drift boat into the flow. AND ... it'd probably bring some additional revenue for shops/businesses in the area.

This is big. Lets make this happen. Public access should be mandatory every 1/2 mile (just a tiny footpath) on every water way. This drives me nuts.

The Yakima is a tailwater and, by definition, is not free flowing! Make no mistake, it is a drainage that is heavily influenced by agricultural politics instigated by those with senior water rights!

I suppose I should not be surprised that a petition addressed to a selective special interest (one that I pay to be part of as both an angler and a guide) received unconditional blanket support! What does surprise me, is the lack of selfless concern for our watershed(s). Nearly every comment made in support of this petition is selfish and/or draws illogical conclusions about the economic impact of opening up this one small stretch of a very large and easily accessible river. I have floated AND wade fished the Yakima from well above Easton to Reds and on the Teanaway from Beverly Falls to the Yak confluence and on the Cle Elum River from the Dam to the Confluence and I have experienced little to no problems regarding access without trespassing or gaining special permissions. I just don't understand the "access issue” you claim is plaguing our waterways! I suppose, if you're fat and lazy, access will always be a problem. I lived in Colorado and Wyoming for a stretch and that experience showed me about inaccessibility. When you’ve hike up a river and are suddenly told that you can't stand on the river bottom because it is privately owned by a movie star, you feel the inequity that wealth and ownership creates. That largely does not happen here in Washington!
Finally, if it is true that opening up this stretch of water will deliver a more robust economy to the region, than the notion (probably more of an assumption or wishful and selective thinking) that newly accessible stretches of river will provide relief to to areas currently over-pressured falls flat and is not supportable by science or logic. If however, you would accept a well choreographed plan that closes one previously accessible and unrestricted stretch of river for every new stretch that is opened, then, and only then will I believe that you are more concerned about the sustainable conservation and preservation of our environment and less concerned about the quantity and size of the fish yo
