Update Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center to No-Kill status

Putting animals down just because of overcrowding should NEVER be allowed!

No Kill!

They euthanize an average of 8 dogs a day, and the shelter isn't even half full. The killing needs to stop

Please upgrade the shelter to no-kill status. Too many dogs are being euthanized unfairly.

I fostered 2 of the dogs that were deemed unworthy and food aggressive from your shelter. Both were wonderful dogs. Did not react at all when placed in my home and with my other dogs or kids. One has an incredible home with a great family and not one problem. She would have lost her life because someone reached into her kennel with her and her PUPPIES and she growled. That is not aggressive, that is lack of common sense. She proves every day she deserved to live, deserved a chance. The other one is also in a great home but I have not received updates for a while. Your testing does not work. And too many dogs die.

It's not just an animal, it is someones heart, someones best friend. It is a LIFE! Don't end it so easily!

I agree, it's unfortunate you can not adopt dogs that are "rescue only"... If I'm capable of helping, why not take my help?

It is imperative that positive changes be made at the Franklin County Animal Shelter. I feel the public is not being heard as to their concerns about this shelter. Healthy, non aggressive dogs are being killed everyday. This is not what we wanted our tax dollars to be used for. We need you the Commissioners to be caring advocates for these dogs. Thank you!

This has to stop! These animals are not at fault, it is the horrible owners that did not take the time to care for them. They deserve a second chance!

This is our shelter as residents and tax payers of Franklin County. The policies and procedures at the shelter should be transparent. The Commissioners should show up and do their damn jobs!

It's time to do better screening of adopters & animals. And NOT kill dogs just because the are shy, have food aggression, elderly. (do they want someone to kill their parents just because they are OLD)? And STOP killing dogs just because they are a certain breed. Question for Franklin County dog pound: Do you buy into the propaganda of dogsbitedotorg? If so then you DON'T belong in the animal business.

No kill is needed

I want to be involved and help find homes for the unknown Rescue Only dogs at the Franklin County Dog Shelter. It has always been heartbreaking to read the updates "Needs Rescue by 7pm" or RIP. Recently it has become even worse and dogs have been given a 2 hour window before Euthanization with very little exposure or chance for rescue. There definitely needs to be more exposure and options for these dogs. Local Rescues are full and broke trying to save these dogs. Most of whom when out of the shelter are completely lovely dogs. It is a well know fact that dogs do not like to be caged and especially for days at a time with little to no socialization or contact. Even humans get stressed and crazy in solitary confinement. There needs to be a complete change. The food guarding assessment is a joke. Some dogs need to be only pets. Judging a dog's behavior in a stressed environment, having been caged and ignored, and then throwing them in a room with another dog, is not accurate and is costing lives. The public should be shown these dogs. I fostered a young male Golden Retriever who as Rescue Only. I have no idea why he was labeled unadoptable. He is fabulous dog and the love and light of his adopters life. Please stop the senseless killings. These dogs need more time for rescue, more attention and care, and some options other than "Your time is up".

Please give these furbabies a chance in life to be loved by someone else who cares
