Update Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center to No-Kill status

Killing healthy animals needs to stop.

It is time for serious change. Killing healthy adoptable dogs is just plain murder. The way that your animals are accessed is archaic, and not beneficial to the dogs that find themselves in a noisy, uncomfortable, strange place. They are scared, stressed, confused, and not sure what is going on. These animals need TIME, PATIENCE, AND HUMAN COMPASSION in order to flourish in such a barbaric atmosphere. They NEED TO ACLIMATE TO TGEIR NEW SUROUNDINGS! The shelter needs kinder, softer, compassionate individuals to interact with these animals. I am so tired of every dog being labeled, inappropriate behavior for our adoption floor. You need a new way of doing things, parts if the behavior assessment needs to be changed, and some parts need to NOT BE DONE as soon as they are brought in. IT IS TIME FOR NO KILL. WE TGE TAX PAYERS ARE WATCHING, AND WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS MURDERING!

Please Stop the Killings of these dogs!!!! Give rescues more time and opportunity to find fosters. Stop classification of dogs as Pitt bulls without genetic testing of breed. Create a new behavior assessment for the dogs so more make it to the adoption floor.

Please stop killing innocent lives. Help us get them saved by Rescues pulling without a death time put on them.

Revise assessment practices

This is the ultimate form of abuse ..killing health and adoptable animals is cruelty at its worst. This must be stopped

Give these poor dogs a chance of adoption

Euthanizing homeless animals hurts us all -- the animals and our society. Living beings are not disposable. Thank you for your consideration.

If everything on this wish list were implemented we could save sooo many more lives. The shelter is lucky that it has such a dedicated group of private citizens willing to step up for the dogs. It's time for better collaboration to make No Kill a reality.

Too many dogs on euthenasia list in short period of time making it harder, if not, impossible to get Rescues, Adoptees, etc

No animal should be put down because someone decided they didnt want it. I realize the shelters have a large overhead with feeding and care but personally i think the adoption prices are too high at most shelters. Franklin County Shelter isnt to bad and at least they drop the prices over time when a dog isnt adopted. the Capital Area Humane Society on the other hand is ridiculous wanting $300 to adopt as most are not willing to pay that for a mix breed that has grown an nothing known about them. There still has to be a better solution than putting them down. The other problem is the cost to spay and neuter if the Vets didnt charge so much more people could afford to get their animals done which would help with over population

They should be trying harder to find these dogs appropriate homes and fosters. The labeling a dog a pitbull automatically makes them first on the list to be euthanized. Please please help these dogs find forever homes and give them a better chance at survival.
