The University is proposing that Teamster-Represented University support staff give up their modest but fully-funded pension in favor of a retirement savings plan, a change which transfers all investment risk from the University to the employees. It also costs employees up to an additional 2% of their wages each year. Yet the University is not offering wage increases that offset the additional risk and cost. “This petition calls on the Administration to provide fair wage increases and retirement benefits to the University's support staff.”

There is no reason that the University should sacrifice employees' ability to live comfortably after retirement to the unpredictable whims of finance and investment.
The u of c has plenty of money they just dont want to pay us what we are actually worth. stop playing games with our retirement plans.
I truly believe that it is unfair that the BMW position holders are among the lowest paid staff at the University Of Chicago
We also need a cost of living raise and a large bonus to offset the steady income over the last seven years and very low wage increases
Living in chicago is getting way to expensive for the wages we get here. we need a real raise that actually keeps up with rent and groceries.

This University has billions of dollars and can afford to provide employees with a living wage
