Unsilenced: A Petition for Sexual Misconduct Policy Reform at La Sierra University

This is disgusting come from a church school. Does not surprise Satan reins everywhere.

Stop campus assault!

I, Collin Brownlow, wholly support every point of this petition. Even though I do not attend La Sierra University, it sickens me that a school that I have considered attending and that identifies itself as Christian and Seventh-day Adventist (or any school for that matter) does not care for, represent, or protect its students and faculty from violence of any kind. Every person who reports any kind of violence or misconduct (whether it be a victim or witness) should be guaranteed full cooperation and swift response from the university in regards to starting an investigation, informing victims of updates in the investigation, maintaining a victim's confidentiality, and resolving an investigation without bias. I sincerely hope and expect that La Sierra University correct their mistakes swiftly in regards to these points I have made and those in the petition which I am signing. I expect nothing less.

La Sierra can and should do better. Here's to hope!

Being a sister of a rape victim, change needs to happen. It is not acceptable for such ignorance at an SDA university. Women, men, children...etc., do not choose to be raped. Rape is not based on the victims appearance, it is based on the mental health of the one that rapes. Do not blame those that are victims and help those that are mentally sick.

This shakes core and breaks my heart.

I hope they did all of these things. I find it very sad that a petition is necessary to demand a Christian college to follow Christian principles

I am a past student at LSU.

Sadly, I am NOT surprised by this gross violation and mishandling of student welfare. Glad for this push in policy change and platform for voices to be heard. Just disappointing to know that it took a PR scare and the threat of loss of funding to get LSU admin to buckle a bit. How sickening.

Why doesn't La Sierra complete background checks on prospective students and employees? La Sierra is allowing students and employees with criminal backgrounds in sexual assault to roam free on campus. They're not keeping their students safe by allowing this.

Tired of the ignorance of the president & others who have the power to change this issue , but choose to ignore the cries of the many victims & soon to be victims if this ignorance continues.

I know very little of this issue and yet from what I do know, I am afraid to walk to my car on campus, after my night classes.

I stand by the people who have fallen victim to these people. I stand by the decision of holding the school and its faculty responsible for neglecting the voices of the victims.

Truly heartbreaking. I sincerely hope this can be resolved.

Sexual assault is a serious and violent offense. Survivors should not feel scared to report the perpetrators. Survivors should also feel safe enough to trust administration to consistently use discretion and uphold justice.
