A petition against taking the cap off tuition fees, as proposed by Lord Browne. Removing the cap would: Discourage applicants from less fortunate backgrounds Leave students in crippling mortgage-like debt Make England's best universities totally inaccessable to students from low or middle income families Make it difficult for middle or low income families to support more than one child going to university There are countless reasons why the proposed changes would ruin the English University education system. The "Widening Participation" schemes and "Access" schemes many Universities have launched in the past few years, encouraging applications from all socio-economic backgrounds to go to University, would be entirely in vain. University would once again become an option for "upper classes", not for students with potential but for students with money. Join this petition to keep University education accessible for all.
I opened the page this morning and blinked when I saw 250 names attached to this. I truly never thought this would reach people outside of my own circle but it seems like we all feel the same way about keeping education open to everyone.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people have joined this fight. This momentum belongs entirely to you because I never imagined so many people felt this strongly about keeping education accessible.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have signed this because I started it on a whim. If we can reach one hundred people today we might actually get someone to listen to us.

Uni is already expensive enough as it is. I dont want to be paying off a loan until I am 50. This is just greedy.

How are we supposed to get jobs if we cant even afford the degree to get there in the first place? Stop making life impossible for young people.
