Sickle cell disease is particularly common in people with an African or Caribbean family background.

People with sickle cell disease produce sickle like shaped red blood cells that can cause problems because they do not live as long as healthy blood cells and can block blood vessels.

The aim of this volunteering group is to allow more awareness of the illness, as well providing support to those who suffer from Sickle Cell. I need as many people to sign this as possible so that the group can be set up, so any support would be appreciated !

Updates

April 16, 2023

The increase in support has provided the necessary leverage to request a formal meeting with the university administration. I am currently drafting the proposal to outline the operational structure and objectives for the volunteering group.

Great idea. Sickle cell is way too ignored in the medical community. More people need to know about this
