Parking at the university is getting worse and worse, I appreciate that use of public transport etc is being encouraged but for most staff this just isn't feasible when you have children to drop off at school. It could almost be considered discriminatory against working parents who cannot arrive at 8am to secure a parking space!!

The roads around the university are now dangerously 'overparked' by frustrated staff. But what else can you do? The University is destroying relations with the community. More parking must be created .

I routinely arrive early except on Mondays when I travel from Merseyside. However, I fully understand the situation of those who need to do the school run for example. Like many colleagues, if I arrive after 08.30 I look for nearby residential parking. However, if that were restricted as, for example, it is near many other universities, we would have an even more serious problem. Before working at Birmingham I often visited the University and can remember being impressed with the relatively straight-forward parking provision for visitors. Now that has gone and we even have great difficulty getting reservations for distinguished academics giving seminars or collaborating industrialists, which does not create a favourable impression for the institution. When someone travels to give us a talk it also does not help that they cannot be offered nearby parking and that they have to pay. We recently had an industrial visitor for a grant meeting with our Head of School which was time constrained so I ended up giving them my parking slot while I searched the campus to find somewhere to legally put my own car. At the very least, the policies on visitor parking and reservations needs to be reviewed.

Although my start time is 9.00am , I have to get in around 0730 - 0745 to secure a parking spot. It's about the same time every contractor on site gets in as well. Totally unfair on staff who can't get in at that time.

I have childcare commitments which mean I cannot get in before 9.30pm. Parking is a complete nightmare and often leads to me sat in my car for up to half an hour waiting for a car parking space. This is not acceptable!!! I work in the IBR and I could previously always park in Biosciences, however, that has been removed as well as many spaces in Pritchatts Road car park in order to accommodate the research park, where are people who work this side of campus supposed to park?

The volume of car parking space at the University is very limited, particularly given the removal of the opportunity to park by the old rugby pitch and by the learning centre to make way for new developments. As a member of staff it is not unreasonable to expect to be able to find parking in or near the University. I would be happy to see the campus itself go car-free but parking must be made available. Please provide adequate parking

Since the beginning of term finding parking on campus after 9am is near impossible . The NE Car Park becomes full by 9.30am most days.
The lack of parking spaces for staff needs fixing.

The lack of parking at the university is very bad but even worse, is the lack of parking spaces for staff who work until late at the Library. Many have to resort to parking their car a distance from the library and having to walk in the dark and often on their own to get to their car late at night. The campus is very badly lit. Alternatively, they have to use part of their break time earlier in the evening, to walk across campus to retrieve their car in order to park it closer to the library when spaces become available. Many of the staff working in the library until late are female.

I'm going to get a "University of Birmingham" sticker put on the side of my car, because apparently that means you're allowed to dump your vehicle anywhere you like for as long as you like.

I have shared spaces permits with my partnmer and even we are having problems- no spaces so people are parking anywhere they can including the shared spaces. We also have interview candidates ringing the office crying they can't park and are late for interview. Please sort this out UOB it is shameful. Also stop asking us to take the train on Open Days- it tells us you don't care about staff! It is imperative you build an inner ring road multi storey either on what is now the Munrow or the grassy area opposite the new library site. Staff are desperate!

It takes me an hour to travel to work and I am having to leave my house at 7.30am in order to find a parking space otherwise after 8.30am there are no spaces. Please provide adequate parking for your staff.

I am a member of staff at the University of Birmingham. In order to ensure I can find parking at the Edgbaston campus I have to arrange my journey so I can reach the campus before 8:30am. I often travel to other local educational establishments in the area and if I arrive in the campus any time later than 8:30am I cannot find any parking space. I often have to drive around the campus or outside for 30 mins to find parking.

The parking situation on campus has become totally unworkable. Parking on the top floor of the North East Car Park is hardly an option for anyone who needs to carry heavy kit to/from work, and anyone working hours other than 9-5 who may need to arrive during the working day is totally stuck. The University needs to stop treating parking as an afterthought and make sure staff who work on campus can actually get here - that means serious thought about adding substantial parking capacity on campus as an urgent priority.

I have worked here for over 15 years now and parking on and around Campus has got worse and worse to the point where it is now impossible to park after 9.15am. Unfortunately it just gets worse day by day to the point where I have had to change my working pattern so that I start work before 9.00am. I also struggle with mobility so the North Car Park is total murder for me without a lift. Who actually designs these buildings! Complete Nighmare!

Staffs arrive later than 8.45 am are struggling to find parking spaces.
This has serious implications for all staff, especially those with accessibility issues (made worse by the lack of a lift in the new multi-storey North East Car Park), and for those who have caring duties that they need to attend to in the mornings.
Please address this problem and make sure that staffs have enough parking spaces on campus!
