Having to arrive before 7.45am in order to get a parking space is ridiculous and also impossible for some. Then, when you do arrive early you have to negotiate driving around campus whilst avoiding the many lorries, trucks, delivery drivers, construction workers and vans that seem to think they can park where they like and drive as fast as they like! It's also very annoying that Uni Staff are not able to get access to the Hills car park, or the front of the Med School, but the work men can use those spaces if they like.

Most of my team of 7 have to visit GP practices during the working day and then return to the University, it is a matter of driving round the car parks in the hope a space will be available and this can take a serious amount of time.

No chance of parking if you do the school run. If you need to go out at lunchtime chances of having a parking space when you come back are slim. At time i've had to pay twice for parking in a day due to the university's mixed parking scheme where some car parks are on swipe barrier and others pay and display. If you leave and can't get back into a swipe car you have to go to the Pay and Display and pay again, its a CON. Before the University say you can avoid this and pay upfront for your parking and park anywhere with their purple badge scheme. Why would anyone then cycle, walk, run into work during the summer months then they've already paid upfront for parking, no green imitative just another CON.

The lack of car parking at the University, and indeed in the local area, has led to colleagues having to cancel meetings as they were not able to make it in time, and we have had several complaints from students who have missed seminars because they were not able to park.

As an Honorary Research Fellow I give my time and experience free to the University. For the one day per week I drive 5hrs and pay for parking if I can find a space. This is a deterrent to continued free consultancy.

I agree, staff parking has become signifacantly depleted since the start of the term. I do not understand why this has happened as studnet cannot park on campus. The parking was not bad throughout the summer. Staff must have priority parking over students.

I have had to get a lift to work for the last few weeks as I am unable to find a single space when I arrive at work following the school run. I am unsure how I am going to manage this long term. There are hundreds of spaces in the new sports centre and the costs are astronomical.

I have heard from two final-year personal tutees this week, who for financial reasons are obliged to live at home and who are experiencing a severe impact upon their studies as a result of not being able to find parking. One has already accumulated fines in order not to be late for classes. Public transport is not an option, since it more than doubles the cost of the journey. Are we really this careless of the needs of those whom we should be supporting the most in their studies,

Starting work after a school drop is nearly impossible to find parking. Everywhere is full. Having to park further away, causing me to turn up late and then having to make up the time with flexi. Having to stay later, then walk a further distance back.
Plus any visitors we have are always running late, due to not being able to find a space and turning up all out of breath, worried and flustered. Its something we are renowned for as a University. 'The Uni where there is nowhere to park!'

While we have fewer spaces could we ask those with honorary contracts at UHB to use their own parking instead of ours? I have to do school drop off and cannot get here before 9.30 most mornings...I really struggle to find anywhere to park and parking some distance from campus is tricky as I have to get to teaching or meetings by 10am.

Last week, a meeting with representatives of a strategic research partner to the university has been almost called off after they spent a whole hour going around the campus trying to find a place to park. The lack of parking spaces projects a negative image for the university.
