Why are all the contractors on campus parking in the car parks and not on their working sites? They don't have permits so where is the fairness in that...
Also, perhaps opening up the Hills Car Park to us 'non-elite' may help ease the situation. This car park is always half empty!

the University needs to resolve the issue of parking spaces. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find spaces sometimes even before 8.30.

Parking on campus has been reduced very significantly Inthe last few months, and whatever spaces are usable are being taken by external contractors.

Parking on campus is dire for staff and students. There are more and more buildings shooting up on campus and in the surrounding area and less and less parking spaces.

I fully support this petition having spent almost an hour looking for a parking space having dropped my young child off at nursery earlier in the morning. I have meetings and supervision commitments to attend to. Please address this issue urgently.

There are also other issues. Honorary contracts are given to certain staff at QEH and as such they are allowed to park in UoB parking spaces. Note: lack of spaces at QEH too.
I have child care commitments too and most days I am going from car park to car park looking for a space. This is not a good way to start the day, stressed and late.

There is a complete parking chaos, given that the construction workers/teams takes up a good portion of the limited parking spaces at a time when the North Car Park was closed. The Estates should have considered the implications of their solo decisions of closing the N. Car park under the scenario of an increasing number of contractors with their vehicles on campus. I don't feel safe to cycle in Birmingham and especially around the campus as we don't have any dedicated cycle routes in this city and thus rely on driving to work,

I wholeheartedly support this petition as I am at a loss as to what to do for the best at the moment regarding parking. My colleague spent an hour trying to find somewhere the other day, being extremely late for meetings.
Please urgently address this issue

Parking provision is shocking and the university doesn't seem to care. Parking rules also don't seem to be enforced, with university vans and contractors regularly blocking blue badge bays and completing parking up pavements, making it impossible to get through and causing accessibility issues for disabled staff and students.

Having had to pay for a purple pass to enable me to park on the multi storey car park if no spaces are available on campus, I arrived there the other day to find spaces are also being reserved in there for contractors vehicles! It is also disgraceful that there is no lift acces to the upper floors, and having had various operations on both knees, I find it incredibly difficult to walk down from the upper floors, where I usually find I am having to park if arriving after 9.15am!

For people who do not live round the corner, the situation is becoming impossible. 40 mile round trip is becoming less worth it due to spending half an hour trying to park and making me consider other employers

Although I pay monthly for a purple badge I have had to park in the QE multi story car park twice in the last two weeks - this has obviously added a considerable amount to my usual parking fees. I did this after spending at least 40 minutes driving around every car parking space on campus. Why am I paying a monthly fee if there is nowhere to park???? I now have to leave 30 minutes earlier for work but so is everybody else! This brings a great deal of stress at the start of each day.

To many contractors taking up spaces. I am charge £1 a day to try and find a parking space not occupied by contractors who do not swipe through the barrier

No provision was made to support Purple badge holders. The guidance about where to park has not been wholly helpful. Fines imposed are unreasonable. Some parts of the University parking are also administered by UKPC (i.e. Pritchatts Lane). Despite being advised to park in Pritchatts Lane, displaying a purple badge, I was fined £60+. Having already paid for parking through the scheme - I find this to be unreasonable: I was parking in order to give a lecture. More support for staff parking, Purple Badge holders, should be a priority and parking across campus should be managed by Estates. The system as it currently stands is a recipe for disaster.
