I work at the med school and in front of the building is an unused car park, perfectly tarmacked that was taken out of use about 4 years ago and never re-open, it could take around 30+ car, there are a 4 or 5 disabled parking spaces there, so either it is a car park or it isn't???? Open it up while the campus is in chaos.
I'd like to know if the parking fine revenue has increased while all the car parks have been closed.
My start time is 9am but i have to arrive at 8.10am (SERIOUSLY) to be able to park, any later and i'm unable to find a space, its a complete disgrace. University announces the closure of another car park which will obviously only make matters worse. It shows what terrible planning has gone into the thinking behind the work taking place on campus.

Having family to drop off before parking is hard. Having extra 2+ spaces introduce as some one with a big family (6) seems a little unfair - I always have a full car at the start of morning drop off but an empty one at Uni. Any others in this situation?

The University prides itself in investors of people, the car-parking situation is indicative that there has been a lack of forethought for staff wellbeing. In building multi-story car parks, where are the lifts ? to accommodate staff who are differently abled In order to get to work I would need to take 3 buses there are no direct links. This needs immediate attention.

And now to top it all the Pritchatts Road bridge is closed, so we can't even get near the Uni never mind park. Well, I suppose that's one way of solving the problem! Nearly turned around and went home this morning. It's a complete joke.

Parking is getting worse, not enough spaces, road works making it harder to get to and around campus, the whole parking process is stressful. I don't have a train station near me and it would take 2 buses with an additional 15 minute walk to get into work so driving is my only option. Even if I arrive before 8.30 it is a struggle to find a space and there are even restrictions at some of the pay and display car parks.

I have two young children to get ready and drop off at nursery. I will find it really hard to get to work in time to find a space. I can't get the train in as I need to be able to drive to and from the nursery/

A bit late to the debate but wanted to raise the issue of the increase in use of 'purple parking permits' where it seems the University cannot be bothered to install barriers. At £18.33 per month for a 5 day week (compared to £1 a day for the barrier controlled Blue permits) this discriminates against those of us who car share and alternate in whose car we travel in. I thought we were trying to promote car sharing and an environmental outlook!

Parking has always been difficult at UoB but this academic year has been horrendous. I spent 1 hour 30 minutes looking for parking one morning and regularly spend over 30 minutes searching for a spot. This problem needs to be sorted ASAP - please!!

Being a part time working parent it is really difficult and stressful start to the day to find a parking space especially if I run into traffic on the way to work. I’m unable to leave any earlier in the morning due to childcare and have to leave on time to pick my children up from school. The university promotes flexible family working but then you’re driving around for 30+mins to find a space it’s not right and then has a negative impact on work.

The car park situation at the University is a shambles and someone needs to pull their finger out quick to rectify the situation.
Far too many delayed renovations over campus has caused this over the months, and the matter needs to be looked at urgently.
Why should all permitted drivers have to stress out each and every morning about parking their car , even before the working day begins??!

The lack of spaces available is absolutely ridiculous, resulting in being late to almost everything, or having to arrive at university at 8.30 when I am not due in till 2PM, sometimes 4PM. It took me 25 minutes circulating the multi-storey the other day to get a parking space. The amount of builders vehicles now using the space is also a massive problem - I counted over 20. I live over 15 miles away in an area with no transport links, so commuting by car and having a place to park is absolutely essential. With the closure of North Car Park this year the strain on spaces is ridiculous. Alongside the fact that this is the first year they have sent traffic wardens in to penalise those parking in unauthorised spaces when there really is no where else to park...

I am part time, working 18 hours per week. I start work at 9.30 am so that I can take my children to school. However, it is becoming impossible to find a car parking space at 9.20 am and I end up driving around and queuing at ticket machines. It is becoming very frustrating; if I could I would catch the train but my personal circumstances make this impossible.

The University has a family friendly policy and it is my belief that people with families are being penalised at the moment due to the vast shortage of space available. It will also have an impact on people's jobs and timekeeping records if they are persistantly late to work as it can take too long to find a space. Not all departments will be sympathetic to the needs of their workers trying to balance work/life commitments. It is also an issue for people visiting the university as there are no spaces to park. Not everyone can arrive by train or bus.

Over two dozen contractor vans in the multi story car park - many parked without displaying relevant tickets. And yet, the traffic warden failed to issue any penalty notices for contractors today, despite visiting the car park. It has been the same for months across the campus. Space is available in the 'business park' bays, or management car parks. The salary sacrifice system seems to be specifically designed to penalise academic and professional services staff (specially visitors; those with child or caring responsibilities etc) and to a lesser degree students. The management of the campus renovations and parking has been utterly shambolic.

If you don't arrive early on campus you have no hope of getting a parking space even in the Multi story car park. This car park is full of contractors vans.
