The unnecessary labeling of the female teams as "ladies" implies that girls need an exception to be able to compete in school sports. This form of sexism cannot be present in schools, which should encourage all students' participation in activities that promote the school and improve students' performance

I'm sick of this label on our wolves. That's like if we had a "ladies Olympics". I'm not saying the genders deserve the same treatment. Just equal.

Wolf is a gender-neutral term, and requires no distinction of "lady." This only implies that female athletes are not Wolves themselves, but rather the feminine version of the real Wolves. If a school's calling athletes by their mascot serves to reinforce the idea that the athletes represent the school, should they not all be equal representatives? Should they not all be considered Wolves? Distinction between the two groups only tells your staff, your students, and their parents that you believe athletes are male by default, and that female athletes aren't real athletes. Do you really mean to send the message that if an athlete is female, she cannot simply be called an athlete? It's sexist and offensive and outdated.
