Unisex bathrooms for pupils at Thorpe Hall School

I am deeply concerned about the lack of consultation with parents and children. Not a good attitude from the school.

There are already enough issues when it comes to the toilets as it is, throwing in unisex toilets really is just asking for more trouble. My 11yr old will be moving from prep school to yr7 in September & already has anxiety about the move without the adding pressure of having to use the toilets with much older children. I do not agree with this at all.

Catering for the minority to upset the majority .

Following discussions with our son who voiced his opinion on the current facilities that of which he would avoid unless completely necessary, he would rather wait till home. We feel this could cause damage to his health and do not support this idea

The implantation of unisex toilets at Thorpe Hall will cause stress and anxiety for all children whatever gender. Individuals should have their needs cared for in a bespoke manner, eg even so obviously as menstruating girls! Some girls are worried even with only girls and require a separate bathroom .

Against this proposed idea

I do not agree at all. As a mother of 2 girls they need their privacy. Especially when one is starting puberty.

I am not adverse to 1/2 unisex cubicle but I don’t agree it should be the only option. It’s a very sensitive age with lots of hormonal changes

Maybe have one unisex toilet for neural gender children but having a girl at the school who would feel embarrassed going to the toilet whilst on her period especially knowing boys may come in the toilet I do not agree with having all toilets unisex.

This is a step backwards for girls/women safety and privacy.

Safety before virtue signaling.

I can’t see the rationale behind this decision, I don’t see how unisex loos will make any difference to the vaping/behavioural issues that have been mentioned. Put a teacher/prefect on duty outside the loos? Personally I’m concerned how this will affect my 11 year old daughter as she has said she will be really embarrassed having to share toilers with much older boys.

This is ridiculous young boys and girls need their privacy and I am really angry thorpe hall feel this is acceptable

I fell that there are already enough issues with pupils going to the toilet that this could cause more health issues than needed. I feel we could have some of the toilets re arranged to unisex but not all

Totally totally against this idea, you are opening up a can of worms. Deal with vaping and bullying in another way, this is not your solution

I do not agree with mixed toilets at.my daughter would not use them.i believe there should be a single toilet/s for those that want to use it.but not for everyone

Myself and my daughter are against the idea of an integrated toilet, we’d like to see the addition of an integrated toilet area, alongside male and female toilets. Then the students have choice.

I’ve experienced unisex toilets at the gym and it’s not nice, I don’t use them now I also look after the security at a large compressive school and the changes have created greater problems for the majority than solved for the minority.
