We, the undersigned, being employees of EUSA hereby request the Trustees of EUSA to afford formal recognition to a Trade Union that can represent the collective interests of employees and negotiate with Management on their behalf, in accord with the TUC Partnership Principles ie Commitment to Success of the Enterprise; Win-Win; Focus on the Quality of Working Life; Commitment to Employment Security; Transparency and Recognising Legitimate Interests.

Recognising that two Unions currently have members in EUSA, we further request that the Trustees instruct Management to enter into discussions with UNISON and UNITEas to possible recognition agreements, the type and level of support that they would give to members in EUSA and how they would propose to work in Partnership with EUSA Management, all with a view to Management recommending to the Trustees recognition of one Union and a timetable for such recognition to be formalised.

In submitting this Petition, we refer to discussions that have taken place regarding Union recognition at EUSA over the past two years and to the Outgoing President's Statement of May 2013 of the Case for Union Recognition and to the fact that NUS proactively encourages its affiliates such as EUSA to enter into recognition arrangements with the appropriate Union/s.

Unions today operate in a very different way from the stereotypical adversarial mode associated with from the past and, we believe, Union recognition could contribute much to EUSA, going forward.
