This is both surprising and regressive - I am sure that the policy could be changed quite easily - and it most certainly should.

This uniform policy is retrograde and must be changed. KCL should be embarrassed that a policy like this persists.

What do the managers think they're running? A business?

This is an outrageous imposition of female members of staff. Show some respect KCL and get rid of this barmy dress code.

The staff at the reception desk do a tremendous job and should be able to dress in a professional manner without a prescribed gender-specific uniform.

This requirement is retrograde not only in its sexism, but also in its humanity -- the reception area is cold in winter and staff should be allowed to wear trousers. Extraordinary in this day and age.

Women should be able to wear trousers, and men should be able to wear the dress and pearls should they choose to do so. Is this 2014, or 1914???

As a lecturer in a University of London HEI, I'm troubled by the reinforcement of gendered norms in an institution dedicated to critique and progress.

Exactly what reputation does King's College believe it is ''enhancing'' by imposing this bizarre and anachronistic dress code on women staff?

Unbelievable!

Ridiculous, and insane that we need to sign a petition for someone to realise this is wrong.

Actually I've heard heels are required but I haven't been able to confirm.
