It sounds like an April Fool's but if it isn't then it is outrageous. KCL should be ashamed to employ such a company.

Perhaps Kings College need to come right up into the twenty first century and think very seriously about the image of both women and their own attitude as a modern educational institution towards equlaity which this bizarre dress code projects.

I am appalled by this situation, and shocked that King's would do this. At first I thought it was an April fool joke. This new company have recently taken over the contract, and the standards of professionalism and training of some of its staff are lacking. They seem to care more about rigid dress codes than appearance. And this is dress code is discriminatory in my view.

Initially I thought this was a spoof - then I realised it was deadly serious in more ways than one - King's / CIS need to wake up to the 21st century and leave their prejudices and discriminatory behaviour behind.

I support this petition. Female reception staff should be permitted to wear trousers. No jewellery should be required. By the way, wouldn't a dress and pearls hamper staff from carrying out their duties in case of an emergency?

This is an embarrassment not only to Kings, but to the whole university of London. You cannot hire staff from the 1950s.
