Students in the Cedar Rapids School District. Are you aware that we are able to not take PE? It's all actually attended to by the schools principle. If students have a full schedule we are not required to take gym. We are allowed waivers by the state. We need equality between the three schools!
I have spent this week cataloging the specific waiver policies at each district high school to identify the exact inconsistencies in how these exemptions are granted. I am currently drafting a formal inquiry to the district administration to demand a standardized process that applies to all students regardless of which building they attend.

The current momentum brings enough leverage to request a formal meeting with the district board regarding waiver consistency. I am finalizing the language for a letter addressed to the administration to initiate this review process.

I think we should be able to be exempt from gym especially if we have other physical activities and have a full schedule with academics, which are just as important as athletics, which also aren't for everyone.

I fully support this, because as a student who has a full academic schedule and participates in varsity cheerleading, happiness inc, fall and spring musicals, speech team, as well as a straining list of church callings, gym should be the last thing on my mind.

I've had a full schedule without gym for all 4 years of high school and had to take a course called "online gym" my senior year. It was the most pointless class I've ever taken, and ended up taking more time than all of my homework in other classes combined, including 3 AP courses.

Gym should NOT be a requirement! I am in sports both school semesters and I have a full schedule! I do not have time to take gym! Academics are more important than a gym class where literally all you do is just walk around.

Why should we have to do it if we have full schedules? We obviously can handle the class load, and wash and Jeff do the same thing.

I agree 100% because it would help so many students.
