As members of the Muslim community, donors to the Ummah Masjid and Community Centre project, and taxpayers we, the undersigned, demand that complete control over the Ummah Masjid and Community Center (which was funded with our donations and with taxpayer money through the government grant for the gym) be handed over to the Muslim community and its elected representatives.
The Ummah Masjid Community Association will be fully responsible for the completion of the construction of the Ummah Masjid, the operation of the building, and all funds associated with the operation of the Ummah Masjid building. The elected executives of this association will be accountable towards the members of the association and membership will be open to the entire Muslim community, providing full transparency.
The Board of Directors of the MMA will have one week in which to sign their agreement to the community’s demands. If they do not do so within that time the petition will be taken to the authorities.

Finally! transparency is long overdue. let us take control of our own space.
total accountability is the only way forward. stop holding onto power and let the community oversee the building.
THEY NEED TO STEP DOWN NOW. tired of the current board doing whatever they want with our donations.
it is our money and our community. we deserve to see where the funds are going and have a say in how the masjid is run. enough with the secrecy.

so many of us have put our hard earned money into this project. it feels like they think they can just ignore the people who built it.
