The coalition of UMass Amherst labor unions is actively promoting a vision for our state’s university education system that respects both the individual student’s experience and the collective work we all do to support and shape these experiences. On the other hand, the administration is jumping on the national race-to-the-bottom bandwagon with proposals to curtail worker empowerment, reduce benefits for new hires, and extract more and more savings out of our unionized staff, all the while increasing pay to chancellors and other high level positions!
We the undersigned members of all UMass Amherst labor unions, stand in solidarity against these proposals, and say with a unified voice: We will concede none of the benefits we have earned over the course of our years of struggle!

I was just reading through the latest round of messages and honestly it is overwhelming to see how much everyone is feeling the same pressure from the higher ups lately. I have been spending my nights digging through budget documents while trying to keep the coffee flowing because the disconnect between the admin pay raises and our reality is just getting harder to ignore by the minute.

Ridiculous that they try to cut staff pay while the admins get huge raises for doing nothing. UMass should be better than this.
Keep fighting. we wont let them take away what we earned.

UMass is built on the hard work of these employees! stop trying to make it a corp job and treat people with respect.
