Stop the notion the more and faster is better! It is not. Pathologies are missed when we are not given adequate time and OUR bodies pay the price for trying to hurry and get images without paying attention to our body mechanics just so we can rush to our next patient.

Thank you so much for highlighting this issue - too often referrers and radiologists profess ignorance of the issues faced by sonographers. No more!

I had to give up my profession after 32 years because of injuries. The only concern from the management is making money. More cases more profit. They don’t feel the need to hire more staff to meet the demands. No one cares that it takes a big toll on your body. I feel fortunate that I was able to leave the profession but not qualified to pursue jobs that pay as well.

40 yrs.in the field multiple injuries and surgeries. Its unreal at the number of oatiebts we are scanning per day.All the repeitive motion creating injuries.Wre need to be able to do only so many per day. This is disabling many sonographers. In 1980 's it was unheard of.I am luving proof but broken down this job leads to being disabled when we are treated like a machine. The most operater ependent job in the medical industry

At the moment in our department out of 4 sonographers one has a chronic wrist injury, and one had to stop scanning and retrain in MRI because of a shoulder injury. There has to be a limit at some point.

My current job for the last ten years recognizes these issues, but I have worked and witnessed many other locations that are putting their patients at risk due to scheduling and time constraints and placing their ultrasound techniques in a risky position for injury, mistakes, and mental burnout. Change is needed.

10 - 14 patients a day is too many!! Our bodies aren’t disposable and there’s no biomed to fix them!

I scan in pain everyday. When I informed my manager about my pain, she replied, “You chose this profession.”
