Absolutely 100% agree! The solutions needed to completely solve this hazard are not a one size fits all solution, as some specialties don't have a structure to allow for 25-30+ cases a shift. There are creative solutions to overloading one sonographer with the daily patient load plus ER and Urgent add on cases. Ultrasound machines are high priced real estate, which needs an efficient and effective work solution to maximize patient through put without injury to the sonographer. How about two sonographers to one machine? This gives the sonographer soft tissue recovery time, while keeping the machine working.

I have already been injured from over use, repetitive motion, no breaks between patients, and no sleep due to forced call schedules leading to 70 pluse hour work weeks

My wife is a sonographer, so I hear some absolutely horrid stories. To think that so many others endure similar, if not worse, situations is heartbreaking and unexcusable. #CaptheCaseload

I scan in pain every day. Going to physical therapy currently but unfortunately there's no way to stop the pain with repetitive movements performed everyday scanning that reaggravate the injuries. It's a vicious cycle. Thank you for creating this petition.

This is so important for the health of the technologists in our field. We are continuing having to do more scans in a shorter amount of time in order to “keep our numbers up”. This however is not good for the staff or the patient.

Needed Chiropractic and Massage therapy to be able to continue working. All echo inpatients were done portably and it is very difficult if not impossible to do an ergonomically correct study in this situation. Too many studies in a day compounds the chance of injury to the sonographer.

Not only does this do harm to us but to our patients as well. Ultrasound is the most user dependent modality. If we do not have the time to properly examine the patient and history something could easily be missed.

My spine has been permanently damaged from forty years of ultrasound, pushing machines, etc. For echocardiography, they keep trying to increase the patient load numbers supposedly to “break even” on the costs of sonographers and equipment but it is at the cost of permanent injuries to many of us.
