I’ve been a sonographer for 20 years and have already had to have surgery on my arm and missed time from work. We are supposed to be given breaks and stretch time between cases and that is not happening.

Absolutely we need something in place so Sonographers are set free from the bondage of pain and neverending caseloads. Your patients are lucky to have you

I'm only 10yrs in and already have wrist, hand, neck, shoulder, back and hip pain! It hurts to brush my own hair or blow dry and style it. I drop things all the time from pain! I want to quite so bad! I hate being a sonographer because my body hurts so bad all the time!!!! I worked for an outpatient center who's minimum expectation for the day was 13... Minimum!!! There were days I did almost 30patients!!!! That is unexceptionable!!! Now I work in emergency medicine alone and there are times I image 8 patients in an hour and a half! My coworkers don't even do 8 patients in their 8 hour shift but I'm expected to do 8, alone in less than 2 hours!!! It's disgusting and I am continuing to search for a new career!

I have work related injuries and am in pain every day for at least the last 10 years. I keep working because my patients need me and I love what I do. I wish there were regulations that prevented this kind of injury. Then maybe my “golden” years might really shine a little,

Your stories keep us going. This is exactly why I'm working SO hard! I'm sorry for your journey. Please know, you are not alone. Praying for your strength.

A “hard” number of maximum patients MUST be used. It is the ONLY measurement administrators can understand.

Thank you for considering this.

There should be a limited number of patients to be scanned in 8 hour shift. Not 14 or 20

Have been scanning for 25 years. Neck and upper back vague symptoms began 15 years into profession. With increased caseload, increased symptoms followed. Informed my employer and they refused to lower the number of scans I was expected to complete. Now am in constant pain and fatigue with numbness and weakness even at times of rest. Symptoms make it difficult to concentrate day to day and there's no comfort achieved with every night of sleep. Have done several rounds of physical therapy besides trying multiple medications. Symptoms have progressed to include my entire right upper and lower body. Feel hopeless and extremely concerned for my well-being including thoughts of giving up entirely. My muscles have nearly completely atrophied and unable to improve personal strength due to further exacerbation of symptoms. Will not reach retirement age for another 17 years. Unsure if I should push myself until I achieve complete disability or attempt to afford additional education to start over. Difficult decision at this stage of my life.
