23 years and scanning in pain for most of them! I’m proud to be a Sonographer, but we need more help. We are not a disposable resource!

I’ve had two tennis elbow surgeries on right elbow. Also a radial nerve release and when that heals will need it done to the left side w/ a carpal release. Also have right shoulder pain and chronic right sciatica issues that I keep from flaring up with myofascial release. I honestly don’t know how much longer I can scan but am single and need to keep my job.

Laurie, I hope seeing the progress we have made and will continue to make will help you too to heal. To know that what happened to you we're fighting to ensure doesn't continue to happen to others. It is absolutely a multifactorial burden (financial, mental & physical health.... )

Please find a way to be able to actually implement and enforce this in ALL ultrasound serving, hospitals, and clinics

Although this will not help me as I am already on long term disability due to permanent work related injury, it will help other sonographers. Something must be done. I should still be working and the loss of my career has caused so many other problems. ( financial, mental health.....)

Reducing time below 30 min for general and 45-60 for vascular is was leading to MSK injuries. Also employe must provide ergonomic equipment and good quality us machine to be able to scan safely.

A fantastic experienced colleague of mine is at this very moment off with "a broken wing" This is a tough profession on our bodies. We must utilise as many tricks as we can to minimise MSK injuries.

We have to take care of all Sonographers. Case loads are not always the normal, but from my research, are very high in many practices.

I had to be put on disability in 2016 due to 28 years of scanning. Took out my right shoulder, c and l spine and left hip. I had to give up my licensures as of this year because there is no way I'll ever be able to scan again.
