My shoulder is inflamed all the time even when I come in on Monday morning before I touch a pt. They are demanding us to scan more patients without more help. So we keep scanning without time in between. This is one of the reason why shoulders and body hurts

This absolutely needs to happen. What happens when our career comes to an abrupt demise because of a muscular skeletal injury from the increase in BMI’s and case load expectations? There is no one to stand up for us! 99% of sonographers would love to continue working at their expected career longevity that was not in question as much as it has been since I have graduated in early 2000’s. This is a HUGE problem!

25 years and I work in pain every day. Just trying to make it 3 years to retire. Because of the repetitive stress on my body I will have to now live with it the rest of my life. It is a sacrifice I make for the good of mankind.

I let my license go, because I am no longer able to scan, due to neck, shoulder, index finger, & thumb overuse injuries.

Case load needs to be capped for sonographer safety and proper healthcare for our patients

It is time to cap the load. We are getting more injuries from the increased patient load. If nothing be done about peoples body habits then lessen out daily load. The cap should be an industry standard. Not an exception.

Due to my job; I have had to have neck surgery due to a compressed nerve that showed permanent damage along with right shoulder and arm issues

2 years is such a short timeframe to be symptomatic. It gets shorter and shorter every year. Please be safe and practice soft tissue recovery ASAP to promote healing.

We agree. MFM is a ROUGH speciality to practice in for the body. Thank you for your support Nora. Together we can create the change we need to see in ultrasound.

Ultrasound can be hard on the body. Especially when there is no limit set for the tech. We get overworked and worn out. I am currently over 2 years in and already experiencing pain.

There needs to be a cap on patient load. Sonographers also need tea and lunch breaks.
