The humble ukulele never gets its respect when the term "World Instrument" is bantered around for other stringed things like the Oud, Bouzouki, Saz, Balalaika, Cumbus, Erhu, or Sitar. It doesn't have an alluring name like the Baja Sexto. But this tiny instrument, with its origins in Portugal and its heyday in Hawaii has now circled the globe, introducing music to schoolchildren in Canada and making people smile on all continents.
