UEA staff car park charges are unfair and need to be reviewed

I suggest a park and ride from the Airport for those people living on that side of the city, otherwise they have no option other than bring their car into the Univeristy

i think it is unreasonale for staff to be paying in excess of £300 a year to use the staff car park. Gone are the days when we benefited from some free parking during the summer. Spaces are less and barriers are always out of order which is very frustrating when travelling into work, sitting in traffic and being late for work and causing traffic chaos is not acceptable. The 1% pay increase is not enough to cover the cost of parking yet alone living. The UEA should provide ample spaces for staff and students. alternatives are not an option for most with the park and ride being well out of peoples way, when you have children you need immediate access to your car in the event of an emergency.

I feel that the cost of parking has reached the maximum level that I can personally afford, especially when you take into account the rising cost of fuel and low wage increases in recent years. There seems to be very little thought given to staff when spaces are removed (often without warning). Buildings seem to keep popping up and taking spaces but no additional parking is given. UEA just don't seem to grasp that some people really don't have any other feasible option than to drive to work. Why should we continue to have to pay ever increasing charges just to get to work? I don't have children but I do have other commitments which means that the Park and Ride is not a feasible option for the majority of days.

The poor maintenance (barriers always broken), the constant reduction in parking spaces, and the ever-increasing costs cause problems for the majority of staff - those of us living in rural areas outside of Norwich simply don't have the option of cycling, using the park and ride, or taking a bus or train.

Parking costs have risen whilst parking spaces have reduced - enough said!

The cost of parking has risen exponentially - as a PhD student, single mother of two children at primary school it is immpossible for me to arrive on campus before 9am, after which time it is also regularly impossible to find a space. I do not have time to drive out of the city to use the park and ride if I am to get to work on time - I teach studnts and I work as an Administrator on campus too. I applied for a car share space since I almost always bring other PhD students onto campus with me, but was told that such an arrangement did not qualify me. The clear message that is given out to staff by the UEA is that they do not care about reducing carbon footprint, or increasing the number of passengers carried in cars arriving on campus. This is about punishing car users, financially harming staff by no longer having graduated rate of scale, and as ALWAYS the vast burden falls on women with caring responsibilities who work part-time (but pay the same as full time employees), who have kids to deliver to school who therefore cannot arrive on campus before 9am, or come to work without their cars, and who because of their p/t work earn significantly less than f/t employees (and f/t working men who do not suffer from the gender pay gap). This is NONESENSE. Get shuttle buses!!!!!

I dont like having to pay so much for such a bad car park. I do get there has to be a charge but it doesnt seem that this is being used as it should. Considering the number of students that now take the spaces they should be making enough money to fix the barriers and avoid queues on bluebell road! and like someone else said why expand the campus if parking (travel/access) is not increased to go with it.

Norfolk is a rural county, the bus service outside the city is poor, cycle routes/paths are poor. People need their cars to get to work.

I have to leave home at 7.50 to get to work at about 8.20 even if I dont start work till 9.00 to ensure I get a parking space. If I could use public transport I would but it doesn't run door to door from where I live.

it is very difficult to arrive on time due to lack of parking and childcare commitments mean we cant always arrive before 9.. Also those who have a casual staff contract which only work a few hours a day have to pay the same as those with a permanent contract

The availability of car parking spaces has been reduced over a number of years for building, with many spaces not being return to car park usage once building work has finished. With the increase in car parking charges, this should at least allow staff a parking space, whereas it can often take a long time to find a space at busy times.

The car park charges should be based on grade of employee, why should someone on £15k pay the same as someone on £35? We should not have to pay more for such a poor service, barriers broken, not enough spaces, etc. The UEA is all for Student satisfaction but what about the staff!

This is costing the University money as staff who arrive on time are unable to park and begin working until later and later. The queues for the car park also prevent any buses entering campus, thereby also delaying those of us who tend not to drive anyway. It is a universal problem and won't be solved by simply ignoring it.

Please stop non staff parking in the main car park and remove the option to obtain a token. There is insufficient parking for staff many of whom have childrena nd are being unfairly treated because they cannot get in any earlier.

If you are going to charge for parking at least make sure there are places available for staff to park, after 9am it's impossible making it tricky for part time workers. Also, is the amount of money now generated by charges made known? I would love to know how much the UEA makes by charging us.

Lack of space and higher parking fees are very troublesome on a daily basis.

I thing you should be able to buy one scratch card in advance for parking at Blackdale. eg: morning appointment at doctors especially when blood tests are done and they have to be sent away for analysis.

I object to buying more scratch cards than needed if i have to park on Blackdale for just one day.

There are limited viable options for travel to the UEA anyway, and some us need our cars there to do our jobs. Parking is already too expensive, and parking spaces are limited. An increase is just insane, and is clearly just a way of extracting more cash from hard pressed employees.

Tried it myself and half the time the bus left 5 minutes early and I had to wait 25min
