The International Center is not only a great resource for International students but also for the greater San Diego community. We meet, learn, and laugh with our friends here.

I volunteer tutor. It's great to have a place to meet with tutees and where I can get a parking permit.

Why get rid of an educational resource and a place to make friends?

This is an excellent use of university space and very needed for new international students.

I am a tutor for the EIA program and can see that this center has a valuable impact on those who use it. International students come here and use it because of its welcoming nature, or to meet with their tutors, or to participate in one of the many cultural programs. I'm disappointed to see that UCSD continues to deny its students the cultural and diversity programming it needs and hope they will consider moving the International Center elsewhere.

As a tutor in the EIA program, I was disturbed to learn that plans were in place to demolish the IC with no thought given to replacement. Such shortsighted thinking seems uncharacteristic of UCSD and unworthy of a major university.

The International Center provides a valuable multicultural network and location for people who would otherwise be isolated and marginalized. I believe this center is integral to UCSD's mission to maintain multiethnic diversity.

This Center is a valuable resource for students as well as for visiting scholars and their families. It provides a forum for intercultural communication at a grassroots level. A plan for reconstruction or suitable replacement of the International Center should be an essential prerequisite to demolishing the current Center. Thomas J. Wegman, Ph.D.

So much of how UCSD is perceived by the rest of the world is based on the very positive experiences had by visiting faculty, researchers, students, and their families, with the International Center. It serves a vital role for UCSD, and so its future plans should be carefully considered and not rushed. It would be good for any such plans to include input from the entire UCSD community, including faculty, staff, students, and our international visitors.

Students need a place like this. If you destroy the center without any future plans for another, you destroy the students.

The I-Center was an anchor for me in going through the EAP process, both in preparing to go and after arrival. I've always thought of it as a true gem on campus. It would be a shame to see it go.

One of the last strongholds of campus culture... Would be sad to see it go!

I-Center is one place I knew where I could find international mingles. It welcomed everyone. It was a nice complement to my EAP experience before and after my study abroad.
