Ot seems unreasonable that there are no plans to re-build the center. Ucsd receives a big amount of international students who not only add value to the student body but also drives the university forwards. Not having an international student center can only be detrimental. Speaking as international student, I believe that this center is key to making us feel welcome and is especially needed today with the current state of political affairs.

The international center was where I met my first friends when I moved to San Diego. Without the wonderful people i met here my time in San Diego would not have been the amazing experience it was. Moving overseas for the first time is a daunting experience, and the international center made it a much easier transition.

It makes little sense to move forward with the demolition if a student resource without a plan to fully recover it.

The Kitchen Exchange (which rents kitchen and baby furniture to short term internationals) and the Resale Shop which raises money for scholarships are still homeless!

When my wife and I first arrived in San Diego, we knew only one person in all of San Diego: my advisor. I can honestly say that, after four years living in this great city, we have many, many friends, and most of these friendships began at the International Center. The International Center is the spark for integrating international students' spouses into the American society.

I support the call to delay demolition of the ICenter until a plan to reinstate the International Center is proposed and agreed upon.

My three postdoctoral fellows are from Taiwan, France, and Germany. They depend upon the International Center for support.

The I Center is very important to UCSD and should not be torn down.

The IC was the reason I found so many friends from all over the world, my English improved a lot thanks to the volunteers at the convention table, and it was the main reason I felt welcome in the US. My stay in this great country wouldn't have been the same without the International Center.

This office is an amazing resource or students and a key way for students to enhance their understanding of the world. It offers a space to gather around sharing and it would be a complete loss for students to lose this valuable resource. -UCSD Alumni who has greatly benefited

We are disheartened that programs so well received by our internationals and others in the UCSD community will now have no proper home.

Please understand how valuable the IC building and its programs are to the international community at UCSD. The replacement facilities and odd rooms that have been offered by the administration are woefully inadequate for our robust programs. Yet the P.I.s believe that all is well and their international families will be happy. That is not the case.

This is the latest of several administrative incidents at UCSD upon which my reaction has ranged from a mildly embarrassed head shake to legitimate anger. As an alumna of this university, I can safely say that actions like this have made me reluctant to even consider donating any money to UCSD. I would rather my money went toward an organization that listens to the needs and concerns of its community and acting based on those needs, rather than striving constantly toward the bottom line, heedless of the damage it does to the quality of education and university community.

The vital functions of the I-Center must be preserved in satisfactory spaces on or near campus, with consolidation of related activities. It should not be demolished until these issues are resolved!

The International Center has been invaluable resource for me personally, and I believe for the university as a whole. Its presence on campus as an open and inclusive space, with ready access to staff has been crucial for me as an international graduate student. Dissolving the collected resources of the International Center would have a significant negative impact on international students' abilities to navigate the UCSD environment, and for US based students who wish to travel abroad.

The International Center is an essential and crucial place for the integration and the cultural, intellectual, psychological, emotional, social well-being of the foreigners who live in San Diego to support their spouses who contribute to their future but also to that of medicine, science i.e. the future of mankind.
