As a spouse of an exchange scholar student I experienced the UCSD international center as the most helpful and valuable place in San Diego during our 18 months stay. Please keep going!

Given the number of international students at UCSD (and SIO where I work) it seems prudent to make every effort to reconstitute the International Center somewhere on campus. The International Center plays an important social role in drawing together the student body as well as providing a 'one stop shop' for all matters of concern to students relocating to the US from other countries. These are clearly functions that we should retain on campus, particularly as efforts are made to expand the number of international students who pay 'full ride' to UCSD programs.

I want to continue being part of the International Center. It helped me a lot in my culture shock and the transition of moving to another country.
Thanks,
Macarena

It would be a shame if the International Center were to close. I have enjoyed meeting students and learning about their countries - making many friends along the way. I also know that the international students feel good about and enjoy making friends with Americans. Please keep this vital campus function alive.

It does not seem like there has been sufficient notification, discussion, and planning of the future of the International Center with the constituencies at UC San Diego. A recent email about this was the first I had heard of the plan for demolition of the I-Center. Because of this and the importance of the I-Center, I strongly support the delay of the demolition of the I-Center building. If demolition is to be done, a plan to temporarily re-locate the I-Center in one location, and to eventually re-create a new International Center building, seems to be in order - the plan should be proposed, discussed, and agreed upon.

We really need the International Center! This is my second country that I live as expat and I was so happy to have found a place as the IC. I met my new family, my new friends.
We are very happy to be able to help each other in this space, because the International Center has a great value for all of us! Please save our IC!

UCSD's reputation abroad would be damaged if prospective students learn that the university does not value its international students enough to have a cohesive International Center.

As a long time volunteer with Friends of the International Center, I see the importance of the IC in the lives international community on a daily basis. The IC space and its programs have provided a unique space for cultural exchange and friendships for many years. Without assurance of a new integrated space that can serve the international community, the IC building needs to be preserved as it is to ensure continuity the many who come to see it as a "second home" in a new country.
