As the campus serving the largest student population and the largest community in Alaska, the University of Alaska Anchorage(UAA)needs more funding to address its needs and the needs of the rapidly growing student population. Our current facilities are ridiculously inadequate and outdated. And yet, other smaller campuses still receive funding for unneeded capital projects. The University of Alaska (UA) system, UA President Mark Hamilton, and the UA Board of Regents must come to terms with reality by realizing that Alaska cannot be served by the university system if UAA is not properly funded. The UA system can no longer betray our state and our future with poor facilities and underfunded programs at UAA.
We, as signatories of this petition, are unified in our stance UAA has been grossly and embarrassingly underfunded. By signing this petition, we firmly ask that UAA receive more funding in order to address our needs as students, faculty, staff, community members and as Alaskans.
UAA grows every year but the budget stays the same. Tired of seeing all the money go elsewhere while we struggle to find a seat in class!

The labs here are falling apart and the equipment is ancient. How are we supposed to compete with students from outside when our own school is being neglected like this?
