The announcement to cancel TX State inter-urban bus shuttle service from Fall 2013 will have a huge negative impact on the students & employees commuting from Austin, Kyle and San Antonio. This abrupt decision to completely shut down the bus service is unreasonable. Commuters have not been offered any alternate service. Presently the commuters pay a $4 fare per zone, one-way. So a bus fare from North Austin to San Marcos costs $12 one-way. Cost has been stated as the reason for this decision. Why has the administration not tried to reduce cost by eliminating the Saturday service or reducing service? Why has there been no consideration for the students/employees that require this service. Texas State transport administration must reconsider this decision to keep the access open to ALL students at Texas State University.
