We, the concerned citizens undersigned, urge our leaders to immediately suspend the sale of the Daughtrey Building in order to analyze & determine the costs and benefits to Castro Valley residents & businesses of creating a town square at this central location.

The silence from our county leaders remains deafening but your messages about how badly our downtown needs this space keep me going. I am currently organizing our list of signatures to present at the next public hearing. Email your supervisor today to demand they pause the sale of the Daughtrey Building.

I love this idea. As a teacher at CVHS and former resident of CV, I know that there is a big need for safe places for our young people to hang out and feel good about their surroundings. This will transform the downtown area in a unique and special way!
Whatever nostalgia we may feel about Daughtreys does not reside in the building, it resides in our mind. It is time to eliminate the massive box of blight in the middle of OUR downtown and transform it into a space for the citizens of Castro Valley to enjoy for generations.
The building needs so much work and anyone who buys it will have to meet strict regulation. Leveling the building and making it a town square will bring more customers downtown and will support local business. It will help bring Castro Valley together as a community.
The results of the extensive C.V. Blvd. "Streetscape" project look ridiculous with the monolith Daughtrey's building still standing and looking shabby as ever.
This is a great idea. There's currently no city in the east bay with a good walking downtown besides walnut creek. Let's become a destination town!
Town square center is a great idea!
Get rid of it, or make it useful. The building is an eyesore and reeks of abandonment dragging the surrounding community down with it. Let's move forward!

We need an area like most other towns have where people can get together for summer concerts and other community gatherings. The fact that for years all attempts at developing this property have failed should be a sign that it's meant to be used for the greater good and a sense of community in our downtown.
