I support Mr. Spencer's efforts to operate the Tulsa County Commissary as afforded to him under the Randolph Sheppard Act.

Although this county facility isn't covered by Randolph Sheppard, putting this man out of business for no other than reason than greed would be a travesty. 85% of blind individuals are unemployed. Let this man work and live with pride.

Sounds like the county is going to put someone of importance or more favorable than the blind operator. This happens all over the USA. The fact of the matter is if the sherif wants to retire than he would be picking the wrong retirement job, we blind operators work 7 days a week and often upwards of 14 hours per day. This is not a retirement position. Leave the blind operator to doing his job or give him a gun and a badge + a sheriffs job.

Please keep Mike Spencer, the blind guy, who works the commissary at the Tulsa County Jail serving the public. He is very hard working, does a great job, he is smart and so very willing to meet the needs of those he serves, while providing income for his family. Does the county really think that running the commissary themselves will get big bucks to help their budget problems? No, I think not. Please keep the Blind Vendor Program at the Tulsa County Jail.
