Southampton Town Officials Please Keep Tuckahoe Road Public

I can't recall an accident with a golfer or an employee of the golf club. I don't imagine that many members pay Tuckahoe taxes, and this view is a perk of Tuckahoe taxes.

I believe re-routing Tuckahoe road will ne a detriment to both the Montessori school & Tuckahoe school of which many children & their familes walk to school. Sebonac rd is already a prominent cut off for people trying to avoid traffic & cars speed up & down that road. You are just putting another school in danger of accidents. Besides hows about the golf clubs start paying taxes on more than their pro shops, and helping the very community that they are in & trying to avoid.

A dreadful precedent to close this road.

There is no rational argument to close a public road because there's traffic on it. There are, however, many steps that could be taken to reduce the chances of an incident — speed bumps, commercial restrictions, stop signs, etc. The town officials are elected to serve the majority of the public, not to cater to the wishes of a few.

Everyone should be able to enjoy that road's views.

So many simple solutions—overpass, underpass, speed bumps, signage—to a "safety problem" that doesn't even exist. This is a public road and a treasured vista that belongs to everyone.

Keep it open!!!

Tell those golfers to get a couple of crOsswalks & step lively!!

The town has no right to close a public road to satisfy the occasional golfer at the expense of the full time resident who uses that road. If the politicians go along with the non-resident golfers, there should be a collective effort to vote those bums out of office and undo their efforts.

I am a year round resident and have used this road since moving to the Noyac area some 10 years ago.and love the pleasant drive through it. Since Bloomberg started his complaints about traffic there has been more cars on the road, thanks to him! Most out of towners didn't even know about this road. Makes me think that was Bloomberg's strategy! Let's keep the road open for all of us especially the locals like myself.

I fully support the effort to prevent the loss of Tuckahoe road. It is such a beautiful and historic road.

There is no way that this road should be blocked simply because of the selfishness of a few. It is not for the safety, as there has never been an accident or fatality EVER in my lifetime of 61 years. It's just "lawyer speak" & moving the road to encourage more traffic onto residential roads is just another "bonehead" move.

Don't let the golf course take public land.

There are low cost, simple solutions available-signage, painted crosswalks, prohibitions on turns onto CR39 -

I have used this road my whole life it should stay open!

This should not even be considered. I will campaign AGAINST any politician who supports this privitization of public assets.

The vistas seen from Tuckahoe Road are breathtaking and unparalleled in Southampton. It is a treasured view by many and we should keep it that way.

The road becomes a problem with idling traffic for 2 months a year, just like all side roads in the area. Let's not let go of a public access road by diverting traffic because of temporary inconvenience. Let's solve the traffic difficulties on major artery County Road 39. It is the cause of the congestion on side roads. Diverting the road will not solve the traffic on all our other side roads.

We've made it since the club's founding in 1892...124 years without any problems. Perhaps let's give it another 124 years and see how it goes.

First our beaches and now our road, what's next. Maybe we should all just move to Mastic Beach and commute to serve them!
