In 1949 the FCC introduced a policy that required holders of broadcast licenses to both present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was in the FCC's view -honest, equitable and balanced. The FCC eliminated the policy in 1987 and removed the rule that implemented the policy from the Federal Register in August 2011. The FCC made it possible for anyone to create news for the public without any facts, and edit the stories to fit the opinions of those who are supposed to be reporting factual balanced events.

With this petition we can demand that news sources must give balanced, impartial and factual information when reporting news of controversial issues of public importance. Regardless of the media platform they use. If any organization or individual wishes to give their opinion regarding controversial issues of public importance on any media platform it should be required that it is labeled as opinion or labeled For entertainment purposes only. Everyone has a right to free speech, we also have the right to require facts in the news we are consuming everyday. We demanded truth in advertising, truth on our food labels, truth with medications we consume, why do we not demand it from our media outlets?
I don't even watch the news anymore.
TRUTH and INTEGRITY should always prevail over sensationalism. Political preferences should never EVER supercede the truth!

It’s important to move from the news to not give their own opinions. They are very slanted in their reporting that not many people that I know even want to watch the news. I try to just watch local Channels that I trust and they mostly report local news. I do not trust the national news.
